Mouse has a really cool story too.

We adopted Mouse about 6 months after we got
First we went to Petsmart to see if they had any adoptable cats and they did but we couldn't bear to part them. Two cats I could handle but I felt three would be too much. From there, we went to the animal shelter in our village. Heidi fell in love with the very first one we saw, a friendly tuxedo. We did visit a couple of the other cats but Heidi really connected with the first cat and so we decided we'd take her.
There was a small fee to pay the shelter and as I was paying that, I was chatting with the officer in charge. I found out that the cat's name was Mouse and she'd been brought in just the day before. The cat belonged to the man's wife. I had this sudden feeling I "knew" what had happened. "The man's wife died didn't she?" I asked.
The officer said, "How'd you know that?"
Because Heidi's dad died, I thought to myself, and he knew she wanted a cat. "I just did," I said. "This was meant to be."

Sometimes Heidi gets bummed because Mouse isn't as affectionate with her as she used to be. I suspect it's because Mouse knows who her meal ticket is (me) and also because I get to spend more time with her.
And TB, who wasn't a real fan of cats, now loves Amber and Mouse like they'd been born right into our family. It's really sweet to see him with the cats.
What a beautiful cat, and what a beautiful story.
