Cat Lover

I have always been a cat person. I have belonged to cats for as long as I can remember. I've rescued almost all the cats that adopted me except for one, my gray tabby Kushna. We bought a cat Billy named Paddiwack but to me that's a rescue from a pet store. :P

I feel bad when I watch the TV show Animal Cops and the officers come across a house full of feral cats. I've learned that because these cats have minimal exposure to humans, when they are removed and brought to a shelter they have to be euthanized because they're not adoptable. That's so sad! So I felt really bad to read that feral cats in San Juan are going to be trapped and taken away.

Here, again, the cats will probably be put to sleep and that is a shame considering there might be a less expensive alternative. Activists would like to see the cats caught, neutered, and then returned to the area. It would save over $1000 per cat. There are positives and negatives to having the cats remain. Cats can carry disease and they can leave unpleasant little "gifts" like mice and such for people to find. On the positive side, though, they do control the rat population!

I have been reading the blog of a 13 year old girl named Raghda. She doesn't talk much of the uproar in her country. If I was her, I'd probably want to escape from that. She likes cats and has posted a lot of cute kitty pictures.

Last but not least, our 2 beauties:

When I worked for the vet we had women that onwed farms and they would bring in at least 3 cats a week to be fixed. They were ferral cats and most of them were not very nice. These women would pay for the cats out of pocket untill Dr. Patel discovered that the state of NJ had a ferral cat program. That's how I got tomas. He was a surrender and he got fixed and declawed through the state. He is a great cat!
It is sad to see all the unwanted animals. That's why I need not to go back to work at the vet cause I'll take them all home.
Love,
Shell
