Ooops, they weren't all Christians!

Oh my goodness! The meme writer for Tuesday Newsday sent me a comment about the people who wrote the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and others involved in the shaping of our country. The founding fathers of our country weren’t all Christian as I’d thought! They believed in God – or some sort of Diety – but didn’t necessarily accept Jesus Christ or both testaments of the Bible. As Gomer Pyle once said, “Sur-prise, sur-prise, sur-prise!” Many of our presidents and patriots made some good points about some not-so-positive issues in Christianity. In fact, some quotes are very critical of Christianity.

So with respect to the question I answered yesterday about the separation of church and state, I’d just say the founding fathers were Deists, Unitarians, and of other religious backgrounds. Still, they did believe in God of some name. And I think they wanted to be careful not to have the country controlled by one religion.

I can’t see that happening here.

Blogger Seeds:

Well, I missed a post on Flag Day, (June 14), but here is a questions about flags anyway. Do you fly a flag? why or why not?

Yes, we do have a flag. We fly it to show our love and support for our country and the military. I might not agree with the war in Iraq but I support all our soldiers.

What’s On … right now?

What's On your 'vanity license plate' (otherwise known as personalized license plate) Right Now? (If you were to have one?)

I don’t have one. If I did, it might have been (at one time) I SIGN or TERP (referring to being an interpreter). Now, I would pick something like HIS and HERS for our Sienna vans or IMAHUSSEY or T&C4LIFE. Is that too many letters or numbers? Maybe CATLVR
