What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?
I’m proud of being a skilled sign language interpreter for the deaf for over 20 years. I’m also proud of being a mentor for young interpreters. I’m glad that I was able to show them that qualified interpreters don’t have to be contemptuous or highly critical of students. The young interpreters are going to step in for us older ones as we retire so why not give them a positive experience about the field?
Tuesday Newsday:
1. Who is/are your favorite political blogger(s)?
Recently I’ve been reading a lot of Iraqi blogs. I’m not sure if they are technically classified as political but it’s been fascinating learning some of the history & background of some Iraqi citizens. My personal favorite is http://hammorabi.blogspot.com/ Hammorabi
2. Is she/he/they right wing, middle of the road or left wing?
I’m not sure
3. What issues to they tend to keep up with the most?
Hammorabi’s provided a lot of background information about what life was like under Saddam Hussein as well as cultural and political histories and anecdotes
Summer's here, and that means road trips, driving with your window open, and hot and heavy traffic. I'm from California, and almost every time I'm on the road I've got a gripe about someone or something...What annoys you the most when you're on the road?
1. People don’t yield to each other in traffic jams, causing a longer & more difficult merge
2. People run stop lights
3. People run red lights
4. People tailgate
5. People drive too slow
6. People blast their music so loud our whole car vibrates
7. People talk on their cell phones while they are driving
8. People do other stuff – read books, newspapers, apply makeup, etc etc – while they are driving
9. Gas is going up every day!
10. Roads aren’t wide enough to accommodate all the traffic :P
