I found a new meme last week that I am sure would appeal to the mommys on our group.
It's called Oh Mother and it was started by ... no surprise here!
... a new mommy! With a meme, you can either copy the quote and talk about it on your blog or go to her website and answer it in her comments section. I think the one daddy on our group would be interested because it's a whole different perspective!
This week's comment:
In motherhood a woman exchanges her public significance for a range of private meanings. (author Rachel Cusk)
Before the kids were born, my "public significance" was in being a proficient sign language interpreter. I would go and interpret in hospitals, in court, even in a jail lockup. Once the kids were born, though, being a competent or popular interpreter wasn't so important anymore. I wasn't available to run around and interpret in emergencies. It was more important to be a mom, which was just so much more of a joy and something to take pride in because my kids are so wonderful. Being a mom doesn't seem to have much public significance but that's because nonparents don't get how important it is.
Hope your area isn't affected by these rainstorms too badly!
