Good to be Back!

Boy, I felt almost totally lost without my computer yesterday and today! My computer needed a transplant of some vital parts and luckily TB knows how to do that stuff.

I just wanted to bring Emily's survey about the Olympics to the top:

The more answers she gets, the better picture she gets about who watches the Olympics.

Well, in addition to that Close Encounters type story, I have one about a terrorist cat. There's no picture, but apparently a cat got loose on an airplane, attacked the pilot & others in the cockpit and forced the plane to turn around!

Also in the realm of the strange, the Argentian ants are coming, the Argentinian ants are coming!. It seems like every time we import or export other countries' bugs and other creatures, we get a new form that is even more dangerous or more pestier. These ants have gotten themselves from Argentina to Australia and have built themselves a huge condo community under Melbourne. They're probably not harmful to people but there are disrupting the food chain there.

The same thing is happening in Minnesota with these Chinese carp that escaped from a Lousiana fishery. The Chinese carp were brought in to gobble up algae or what ever -- they are voracious eaters. Well, the Mississippi has overflowed during storms and these carp have gotten out and begun migrating. Since they do like to eat everything, they are also disrupting the ecology in waters in Minnesota. Some tourists come to Minnesota to fish the waters. At this rate, maybe all they will catch are the carp. They might not have to try hard either! The carp are agitated by motor noises and they start leaping, sometimes right into the boat.

Pretty amazing. Pretty scary.
