Fall colors!

Posted at November 5, 2005 05:35 PM in Personal .

Cassie and I took the girls on a road trip today. I had three agendas in mind for this trip. One; to see the beautiful Fall colors (The trees in our area just aren't very brilliant). Two; I had a longing to see the neighborhoods where I grew up (Actually I had a hankering for some Texas Weiners in that neighborhood). And three; I wanted to give Cassie and I a chance to get away from the house and take our minds off of how much we miss our grandson Tomas. We were supposed to get to see him (by court order) before we have the mediation meeting with his parents in a couple of weeks but we haven't and we miss him.

We had a wonderful drive up to central Jersey. First we stopped at Cranberry Sheetmetal where I work so Cassie and the girls could check out my office. Then we drove to Green Brook and I showed Cassie and the girls where I grew up. Wow what a change! The houses in Green Brook I don't think there were any under a half million dollars on the street where I lived. But in South Plainfield (I lived there until we moved to Green Brook) the old Cape Cod looked pretty beat up and run down. We ate lunch at the Texas Weiner (I had such a craving for their chili dogs. We don't have anything that even comes close here in Browns Mills) I was not disappointed, they were great! We then stopped at Washington Rock Park and Heidi took these pictures;

Then we drove through the Watchung Indian Reservation, the colors were beautiful but we didn't stop to take any pictures. We then drove through South Plainfield and then started the journey home. Visiting the old homesteads brought back a ton of fond memories as I played tour director to Cassie and the girls.
What a beautiful day.
