New Jersey Auto Insurance SUCKS!
About two months ago I had to make some policy changes in my Allstate Auto Insurance policy. The changes cost me an extra $110.00 a month. I was already paying almost $1200.00 for six months of full coverage (New Jersey has the highest insurance rates in the country). I didn't like it but what could I do, I live in New Jersey and you have to have insurance. So that raised my six month rate to almost $1800.00. I've had Allstate Auto Insurance for over fourteen years without a break in coverage. (in New Jersey if you have a break in coverage you get placed in a higher tier, resulting in a larger, much larger payment) I've never had an accident (I've been driving for thirty one years) and only recently gotten two tickets resulting in a total of eight points. (both for improper passing). I might have been able to fight the tickets or plea bargain to a lesser charge but didn't. (I wish I did now!)
So a month after I changed my coverage I received a letter from Allstate stating that they were not going to renew my policy in December. My jaw dropped and then I nearly hit the ceiling. How can they do this! I screamed. I have been paying them on time for fourteen years! I probably should have called my agent and complained but again, this is New Jersey and I had a feeling I would just be spinning my wheels.
So I started shopping for Auto insurance, I looked through the phone book and didn't have much luck. Then my sweetie said "why don't I look online, since I spend most of my time on the computer anyway." So I began surfing through Google for insurance. After a few hours of surfing, (I kept getting sidetracked) I came across the ad for Geico. I applied online (a very easy and pleasant process) and ended up with the same coverage I had with Allstate but $600.00 cheaper every six months. Wow! I saved $1200.00 a year thanks to Allstate's being a (insert favorite expletives)!
Thank you Geico!
