I'm an old beat up Tinnocker!
I have been badly neglecting my blog. Talking with my sweetie about our (I hate to say it) New Year's resolutions, one of the things I really wanted to do was be more faithful in blogging. There isn't any lack of things to write about, our lives are filled with "interesting" happenings and goings-on.
The biggest thing to happen this year was my getting injured again. This time I don't know exactly how it happened but I have my theories. Last year I created a new garden in the front of our house. I had to rent a rototiller to turn the dirt over. Usually when I need help for things like picking up a heavy machine I get help from my step-son Bill. But this time he was away at college. I went to the local hardware store and rented a machine the man there helped me get it in my van and away I went. I got home and tilled the new garden. It only took a couple of hours so I thought; "I'll bring it back and have to pay for only a half day." There was no one at home so I tried to lift the blasted machine my self. I lifted and right away my back started to hurt terribly. I dropped the machine back down and had to sit and rest to give the pain a chance to calm down. Fortunately my wonderful neighbor across the street came out and offered to help. It went very smooth after that.
Soon after that incident I started having trouble with back pain; When I went walking (I love walking in the woods by our lake with my camera) my back would start to hurt and my feet would go numb. When I used the lawn mower and the gas weed whacker my back would start to hurt after only a few minutes. It came to a head in the last few days of September at work; I started to have pain that completely immobilized me. One a pain scale it was a ten! I went to see a chiropractor and the treatments (only two of them) helped me for a little while. (about an hour) I could barely stand so I called in to work and they laid me off. Nice!
So I've been out of work since September. I have been trying to get in to see a pain specialist so that I can get an epidural steroid to calm the inflammation in my spine. I need to get back to work! But the first guy I went to see told me he wouldn't do it because he was afraid I would break his table. In the meantime Disability (which doesn't really provide enough money to keep our household of seven people in food and shelter) sent me to see an Orthopedic specialist. Apparently the quack told disability I was able to work because they terminated my disability. I went to see my specialist and told me to stay out of work at least until February.
Dr. Hymowitz my specialist changed my pain med to Opana because the percocet wasn't doing the job. Now have to get used to this medication. I finally got an appointment with a pain doctor but I have to wait until the middle of January to see him. I have been to the eye doctor recently and she told me that I have retinopathy. (bleeding in the blood vessels in the eye) After all this I have to get a sleep study done to get a new CPAP machine for my sleep apnea.
That's just the problem with my health. Cassie and I share many health problems but the biggest problem is our children! But I'll save that for another post
