Kids!

My wife and I are disabled. Cassie permanently and hopefully I'm just temporarily disabled. There are seven people in my house. My wife Cassie, myself, my twenty-six year old daughter and her three year old son. My twenty year old stepson, and my nineteen and sixteen  year old stepdaughters. I love each one of my children  and stepchildren very much. I just wish they weren't such slobs! They seem to think that their mom and I are supposed to pick up after them, keep reminding them to take their meds, make sure they make it to their appointments etc etc.

This morning I walked into their lair (Our family room) and just about cried. It was such a mess! Then I started looking around the house and saw all the stuff they left all around. We have a regular cleaning schedule set up. Everybody has chores they are supposed to take care of on a daily basis, but if Cassie or I don't keep after them or do it our selves it just won't get done. Well that's what happened this morning. Cassie grabbed the vacuum and tried to vacuum the floors but it wasn't working. She asked if I would check it out for her. I took the hose off because it was so clogged with crap there was no suction. I spent an hour cleaning out the clog! None of the kids emptied the darn thing out and just kept using until it just wouldn't suck up anymore. Then they just left it for someone else to clean out... ME!

This has been an ongoing battle trying to get these kids to take care of their responsibilities. So today I had it. I took away the Playstation two and told our son to take the rest of the video game consoles up to his room or I was going to throw them away! That's the end of video games in our house! Tonight I will tell them if the house is a mess again and they didn't do their chores again I am going to take back the cable DVR unit. That means there will be no more damn cartoons for them to watch. I will remind them that I lived without a TV for three years  and didn't miss it a bit. The next strike will be to remove the TV and on and until they either get with the program or move out!

Cassie and I have already decided that once our youngest daughter graduates High School we are selling our house and moving out of New Jersey probably to Delaware.
