My conversion is complete...
Before I married Cassie four years ago I was a total dog person. I didn't care much for cats, in fact my whole family thought I was a cat hater. Well when I fell in love with Cassie I also fell for the kids, Billy, Heidi and Kristin and lo and behold her two cats! I developed quite an attachment to Mouse and Amber over the past four years but there was something missing. Last week while killing time and buying some dog, cat and bunny food
at PetSmart, I passed the booth for the Animal Sanctuary Society cat adoption center. There was a beautiful Bengal cat named Kosmo relaxing in his cage I fell in love with him immediately. Kosmo is seven years old, litter-box trained, de-clawed and neutered. Just the right kind of cat for me. He is a big cat, the kind a guy can have
so he doesn't feel like a wuss owning. Well I asked Cassie if we could adopt him. I used the argument that she has Amber, Heidi has Mouse, Billy has Buddy and Kristin has the two bunnys (I can never remember their names. She named them after some Japanese characters) I didn't have a pet of my own (Sniffle, sniff, sniffle). As it turns out Cassie is a confirmed cat lover and said yes.
So we went looking for someone to help us adopt Kosmo. Unfortunately there were none of the Animal Sanctuary volunteers available and we were told to come back tomorrow around two o'clock. Man what a letdown! I was sure someone would come and adopt Kosmo before I could get there. He is such a beautiful cat. Well we went back on Thursday and we had to fill out an application. It was quite an involved process. We had to have references and a lot of personal information. Finally Saturday morning the Sanctuary called and said we were approved and we could pick Kosmo up after two o'clock that day,
What an adventure that was too. I walked out of the house at noon to check the mail and noticed that the right rear window on my van was shattered. Glass was everywhere. I called the police to investigate, there was nothing stolen and no evidence of vandalism but the reason the glass shattered is still a mystery. By then it was almost two o'clock after the police left, so we took Cassie's van to get Kosmo.
When we got to Pet mart there were a bazillion people ahead of us (there was a new litter of kittens and everybody and their sister wanted one) so we waited, and waited and waited. Finally it was our turn. After all the stress of the day we got Kosmo home and just celebrated with a Chinese food dinner and a bit of relaxation.
So now I am a complete cat person

We have a new member of the family! Here Mouse meets his new older brother, Kosmo. Mouse isn't quite sure what to make of all this--aren't siblings supposed to be younger? Amber made it clear she doesn't appreciate having another...

Congratulations to you and Kosmo! I am both a dog and cat lover, so there's no reason you can't be also ;-) And bless you for giving the big guy a good home! I'm sure he's grateful.

Now look at that moggie's mug ! I haven't seen such big curious eyes in ages. He'll be doing okay in such big gentle hands too.
