That's all!

Talking to teenagers always reminds me of the first verse of "That's all." by Genesis. It goes like this:

Just as I thought it was going alright I find out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right s'always the same, it's just a shame, that's all I could say day, and you'd say night tell me it's black when I know that it's white always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

Yesterday we went to the library and I spotted a license plate from Alaska. The motto was "The last frontier" I spoke aloud the thought that space was the last frontier to which Kristin said "No Space is the final frontier!" (From Star Trek) and I replied that it is also the last frontier that the two words mean exactly the same thing. After a brief but fruitless discussion She then replied "Not to me!" I then said it was DAY! Expecting to hear her say Night! Here comes the lyrics through my head: It's always the same it's just a shame that's all! It's not just Kristin, my other children; Michele, Linda, Heidi and even Billy will never concede that I might be right about some things, or if they do it's grudgingly. I'm 52 years old and have gone through some very good and bad experiences which have given me wisdom and insight. When I try to share them with the kids it just falls on deaf ears or even worse, rebellious ears. From the oldest to the youngest! I know I was the same at that age (or worse) and my parents must have felt the frustration I now feel (The Hussey curse!) Is there no way to break the chain? Are all children doomed to go through the school of hard knocks? It's just a shame! That's all!

Hey I what did I do to get into this blog?? I think you are the smartest person I know and I do take your advise. I also listen. When I was a teenager on the other hand I though parents were just stupid. Boy was I wrong.....

Not necessarily, we think you're right when we agree with you (the irony here being that I'm not agreeing with you right now . What a paradox it is. We can't disagree with this post without proving you right :P (I kid btw)).
