Let it snow, let it snow...Rats
We have been having some strange weather here in Jersey. Tuesday, by the time I got up for work (4:30 AM) there was 4 1/2 inches of snow on the ground. So I decided it was bad enough to skip work for the day, and I went back to sleep thinking that the schools would probably be closed. I woke up at the sound of our youngest, Kristin, banging on the door, yelling that there was school today and she needed to go. The snow plow went past our house at 7:30 AM (as usual) and so I took Kristin to school. We didn't get out of the house until after 8:00 and as I'm driving I noticed how clean the streets are. Man! I said to Kristin, I could have gone to work today!
So Wednesday and Thursday the TV and the radio are reporting that there will be a bad snow storm on Friday. They said that starting Thursday night into Friday morning we were going to get 3 to 5 inches of snow. I'm thinking, Oh no! Another day off of work! But as time progressed the forecast changed (The old saying in NJ is: If you don't like the weather, wait a minute) sure enough, the storm was downgraded in my area (South Jersey). I woke up this morning dragged my butt to the window and saw... Nothing! It hadn't snowed at all!
Off I went to work confident that all would be well. I left Browns Mills and it started to rain. No problem, I thought. As I drove past Bordentown it started to snow. But I kept on going. On the radio were reports of North Jersey getting hit hard with snow. Rats I thought. But I didn't want to take another day off of work so I kept going.
I got to work and I'm cursing myself for not turning back. The roads are miserable with drivers that don't have a clue on how to drive in this mess. Oh well I'm safe at work now so what does it matter.
A few minutes later my sweetie calls me to make sure I've gotten to work safely. Cassie said that it was only raining at home and that the kids have no school today. What! I said. The schools are open with 4 1/2 inches of snow and they close with a little bit of rain I asked incredulously. So we chatted a bit then I went back to work.
I just looked out my window in the office and saw to my horror that the skies had dumped another 2 inches of the white stuff. The radio announcer is saying that with the weather conditions what they are, if you don't have to drive, stay home. Yeah, it figures, I should have taken off today too.
Stumble It!
