WE HAVE A NEW DRIVEWAY
Yesterday Cassie and I were sitting at our respective computers relaxing and checking our emails, when we heard a quiet knock on our front door. I got up and checked to see who it was. We don't usually get a lot of visitors around these parts so I was a bit curious.
A man from Williams Paving had stopped his truck looked at the condition of our driveway and thought he'd try to sell us on getting ours paved. He said he and his company were working on some driveway down the street and when he was passing by he saw we needed our driveway paved and could give us a great deal.
Now normally when good deals drop into my lap like that I don't have any money. Yesterday was the exception.
Morse, (one of the owners) dropped off one of his men to start cleaning up the weeds and getting the stones cleaned up and then went to help finish the other job assuring me he'd be back soon. We were just finished up with dinner when we heard the rest of his crew pull up.
When Cassie and I bought our house three years ago, there was very little stone in the driveway. I bought six tons of driveway stone and then rented a bobcat (a small powered front end loader) to level it all out. It took me all of four hours with the bobcat to get the stone sort of leveled out. It was by no means a professional looking job.
Morse showed up at six o'clock and had it completely flat and graded slightly down to the street in fifteen minutes flat! Boy was I impressed! The guys finished up at eight in the evening and did a wonderful job. I paid them and they cleaned up and left.
Today I went to Loews and bought some salt for our water softener and a couple of five gallon pails of driveway sealer. I started to seal the driveway and got about a fourth of the job done when I realized I was going to need more sealer, A lot more! I drove over to a local hardware store and picked up five, five gallon pails of sealer, but when I got home I found that the stuff was no good. I had to take it back to the store and then drive all the way out to Loews again. I finally got back and finished sealing the driveway. The first coat at least. I'm beat maybe I'll finish up tomorrow. Maybe!
