We miss Tomas and there seems to be no end in sight!
Today was the mediation hearing between my daughter and my grandson's father and Cassie and I. We arrived a few minutes early, (Our hearing was scheduled for 8:30 AM) and settled in to wait for the mediator to arrive. We saw Kennan and Linda come in and completely ignore us. Linda was so mad she wouldn't even sign in.
Our names were called and we met the mediator, A very nice gentleman named Jerry; A retired Lawyer that volunteers as a mediator to help families resolve conflicts and to help the overworked court system. Jerry took some information from us and then explained the process of mediation to us. Then the battle began! Kennan doesn't want to ever let us see Tomas again because we called the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) because we were concerned for the welfare of our grandchild Tomas. Linda is mad because we threw her out of our home, and questioned her capability as a mother.
There are many complicated issues involved and either Cassie or I have blogged about them before, so I won't repeat them now.
The mediator explained to Kennan and Linda that we have rights as grandparents to see our grandson and be a part of his life. Then after 15 minutes into the hearing Kennan and Linda were arguing with us about everything we said, Linda lost her temper and ran out of the room slamming the door behind her. Just like she did as a child. Will she ever grow up? One of the things that concerned us about her was her apparent lack of stability. The mediator said we couldn't continue without Linda and explained that we will have to go to court, a long expensive process that could have been avoided if they were willing to compromise with us.
So that was how we left, nothing settled and missing Tomas even more than ever.

I am really sorry that things didn't go well. I'm thinking of you!
My boyfriend has been fighting in a custody battle for nearly 3 years. His father hasn't seen his grandaughter in more than 3 years now. The ex has promised she will make sure none of my boyfriend's family ever sees his daughter again. It's just wrong.
TO THE GRANDPARENTS,
UNFORTUNATELY IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY GRANDPARENTS LOST THERE RIGHTS TO VISITATION BECAUSE A CARING GRANDMOTHER TOOK HER GRANDSON AND FLEW TO FLORIDA AND TRIED TO SELL HIM FOR DRUGS..AS OF THAT DATE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT GRANDPARENTS DON'T HAVE RIGHTS.
I DO KNOW THE FATHER OF YOUR GRANDSON AND HE IN NO WAY WOULD EVER HURT HIM. I HAVE KNOW HIM FOR OVER 25 YRS. AND HE IS NOT INTO HURTING ANY CHILD ESPECIALLY HIS OWN. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT YOU MESSED UP WHEN YOU KICKED YOUR DAUGHTER OUT AND THAN SHE LEFT THE CHILD WITH HIS FATHER AND YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD HAVE ALL RIGHTS TO HIM.TRY TALKING TO KENNAN ALONE AND SEE WHAT CAN BE WORKED.HE KNOWS HOW HARD IT WIL BE ON THOMAS TO NOT HAVE HIS GRANDPARENTS IN HIS LIFE.
YOU ARE MAKING IT HARDER ON YOURSELVES BY CONSTANTLY CALLING (DYFS) ON HIM ALL THE TIME.HE NEVER WALKED OUT ON THOMAS YOUR DAUGHTER DID. AT LEAST HE IS WORKING FOR HIS SON.YOUR DAUGHTER HAS NO ONE NOW THAT YOU HAVE DECIDED TO TURN YOUR BACKS ON HER.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AT THIS ADDRESS IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS.
(ALSO, IF YOU STOP PUTTING HIM DOWN YOU WILL FIND OUT HE IS NOT AS BAD AS YOUR DAUGHTER SAYS HE IS.GET TO KNOW HIM BEFORE YOU SLANDER HIM ANYMORE, AND BY THE WAY, BY YOU PUTTING IT ON THE WEB AND MAKING IT PUBLIC IS SLANDER AND AGAINST THE LAW.)
I have to say that there was nothing written in his blog that was untrue. My friend mearly stated his observations and opinions. Nothing illegal about that.
