Adventures in Christmas Shopping!

Posted at December 9, 2004 03:23 PM in Family Stuff , Rants & Raves .

Cassie and I went Christmas shopping yesterday. We got a list of everyones wants and desires and off we went. Our first stop was Kohls, they were having a half price sale. Normally Cassie and I have no problem shopping together, in fact we actually enjoy doing our food shopping together. Well as soon as we walked into Kohls I noticed that there were no shopping carts available. The store was full of people and not enough carts! This started my fuse burning. Then I noticed the aisles were very narrow, and navigating through the store was difficult. And it was Hot! So now I am feeling miserable, and all I wanted, was to get out of the store and never come back. I guess Cassie could sense the tension in me because she was getting a little annoyed.

We were looking for Christmas table linens for the dining room, and walked to where they were located. there was no help anywhere to be found and we had to root through unorganized piles of table cloths. Eventually we found three we liked and also found three sets of nice place mats to go along with them. After having found what we wanted I was aching to leave but Cassie wanted to see if she could find some presents for the family. So we walked around the store looking at everything and trying not to bump into people. We still didn't have a cart by then so I was carrying everything. Finally I came across a rack of Kohls shopping bags, and stuffed our things into one. The only other thing we found was some Christmas socks Cassie wanted to give as gifts.

Next, we got into the checkout line, (it seems that whichever line I get into, that's the line that has problems, never fails, doesn't matter what store I'm in or what time it is). We finally get to the cashier, she rings up the purchase and then asks me if I want to sign up for a Kohls credit card. NO! I said, but what I didn't hear was Casie behind me saying, "why not!" So I swiped my card in the reader and the machine asked me for my social security number! I thought, what's this for? then it asked for my phone number, address, zip, and the cashier then asked for my driver's. By this time I'm really aggravated and angry. I can't for the life f me understand why they need this information. The cashier hands Cassie a form to fill out and I got really snotty with the cashier while asking her what all this was for. She handed me a slip of paper stating that I was declined for the Kohls card and would I like to use my credit card to pay for the purchases.

That did it! I started giving her a hard time telling her didn't want the damn credit card in the first place. Cassie's telling me to calm down that she said why not, and that's why the cashier tried to sign us up. OH! I paid and beat a hasty retreat out of the store. Then we went to Sears at the mall. What a contrast! Sears has nice wide aisles was not crowded and the temperature was just right. We walked around pricing things and picked up one present and a couple of DVDs for the house. Ahhh that's the way shopping should be. Now I was feeling a lot better. Our next stop was Toys R Us, another crowded store. Cassie and I spent exactly ten minutes in there, left without buying anything and decided we would do the rest of our shopping online. We had enough for one day.

The next stop was a very nice little dinner where we had a pleasant lunch. The ride home was pleasant and when we arrived Cassie went on the internet and purchased all the presents we needed to complete our shopping lists. From now on I think we will start with the internet and leave the noise and confusion to everyone else. They can have it!

LOL!!! Steve feels the same way you do about shopping, especially during this time of the year if it's anywhere other than online... For some reason though we are venturing out to the malls and shops this year.... LOL, you can just imagine the "Huge" smile on Steve's face **giggling hysterically** :0)
