Only in New Jersey Can a truck carrying frozen chickens crash into a truck carrying sheep!

EAST WINDSOR, NJ-November 9, 2004 — A tractor-trailer carrying frozen chickens struck a truck carrying sheep, killing 22 of the animals and shutting some lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike until early Tuesday.
An additional six sheep injured in the accident late Monday were euthanized by state police when they arrived on the scene, said Joe Orlando, a Turnpike spokesman.
Two of the Turnpike's three northbound lanes were closed from 10 p.m. until just after 5 a.m. Tuesday as authorities cleaned the roadway near Interchange 7A, Orlando said.
Seventeen sheep turned loose on the highway by the accident were corralled by police and taken to local animal control facilities.
Orlando said the tractor-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of frozen chickens apparently rear-ended the truck carrying the 45 sheep, which then veered from the highway and struck a tree.
All the chickens on the tractor-trailer, which flipped over after the accident, had to be taken out of the truck before it could be righted.
The drivers sustained moderate injuries, said Orlando. He did not have details about their names or destinations.
