Sweet sixteen

Today is Heidi's 16th birthday. To celebrate we took her and the kids to the movies. Cassie and I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The kids saw Resident Evil. Tonight we'll have Pizza and a hunk of Heidi's Blackout Birthday cake. Yum!
Heidi got some nice presents, books, a watch, a cardigan, checks from the relatives and a cool dragon statue for her collection.

Sky Captain was a pretty good movie done in the traditional serial style back in the Flash Gorden, Buck Rogers era, (the oldies not the more modern ones) The plot was good and the acting of Gwyneth Paltro and Jude Law pretty good. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was Anjolina Jolie's part. I would have liked to see more of her in the film. She was in only about 15 minutes towards the end. There was plenty of action, bad guys good guys, Heroines and villains, robots, monsters, everything a good science fiction film needs. Oh and it had a happy ending. They save the planet and the guy gets the girl. It just doesn't get any better than that.
